Sval Energi is an exploration and production (E&P) company with activity on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Although we are a young company, we have since the start in 2019 positioned ourselves among the top producers in Norway.

Who is it for?

We are looking for students that are currently undertaking a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree at a university. The candidate must maximum have completed final year of a Master programme and must have a valid Norwegian working permit or student Visa. We are looking for interns with all backgrounds who want to contribute to creating value and new ideas. You are passionate about your field of study and are willing to build and strengthen your skills and competency.

Available positions

Business Intelligence Analyst Intern

Scope of work:

  • Provide new insights to the business by making data available in our BI solutions.
  • Engage with mentor to prioritize and select projects to develop. 
  • For selected projects, engage with business to understand their requirements and build new digital products using Microsoft Power platform (PowerBI, PowerApps, PowerAutomate) and ArcGIS platform as necessary. 

Competence and certification required:

  • Student in any technical field with strong analytical skills and keen interest in digitalization / programming.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power platform and/or ArcGIS is preferred but not a prerequisite as tools can be learnt on the job. 

Exploration Intern

Scope of work:

  • Contribute to develop the regional map database in exploration.
  • Generate regional scale structural maps in Petrel in the Norwegian or the North Sea.
  • Integration of well data.
  • Depth conversion using available data and velocity model provided.
  • Build on regional geological models.  

Competence and certification required:

  • Bachelor level or equivalent 4 years at university

Supply Chain Coordinator Intern

Scope of work:

    • As part of the Supply Chain team Support in Supply Chain / Procurement’s activities:
    • Buying, use of our Request to Pay (R2P) system.
    • Tenders.
    • Contract administration.
    • Participate in updating systems and structures.
    • Review and “clean-up” contract portfolio.
    • Participate in review of R2P system with a view to improve processes and tools.

    Competence and certification required:

    • MS Office tools; Excel, Teams, AI
    • Technical / Commercial

    Drilling & Wells Intern

    Scope of work:

    • Create a Drilling & Wells summary for all Sval assets (asset portal).
    • Present key / important well data and operational status on the company’s internal asset portal.
    • Assist with follow-up of partner operated wells.

    Competence and certification required:

    • Minimum 2-3 years university level education from Energy & Petroleum Engineering / Oil & gas technology
    • Basic/intermediate level understanding of Drilling and Wells

    Geoscience Intern

    Scope of work:

    • Make a summary of the well data from wells drilled on the Smørbukk South Field that can be used as a reference for the evaluation of the Garn, Lysing and Lower Tilje reservoirs in and around the Maria Field.
    • Look at correlation of key wells in Petrel.
    • Create a written summary of field appraisal, development and production history.
    • Summary presentation to department.

    Competence and certification required:

    • Proficient user in Excel
    • Experience using Petrel for seismic interpretation and well datasets

      HSEQ & Sustianability Intern

      Scope of work:

      •  Develop/ improve tools and processes within HSE and Sustainability functions.
      • Further mapping and development of methodologies for various Scope 3 GHG emissions, and further development of the GHG accounting procedure.
      • Draft offsetting strategy for hard-to-abate emissions based on available knowledge, report, GHG targets and market information.
      • Support is needed to quality check existing processes for data transfer and to set up a new dashboard for visualisation of data.

      Competence and certification required:

      • Student in any technical field with strong analytical skills and keen interest in GHG emissions and / or HSE systems.
      • Strong excel skills an advantage.

      Collaboration, People & Culture Intern

      Scope of work:

      • Assist in HR tasks especially within  process and data improvement in C1 and collaboration focus cross-team.
      • Maintaining/uploading data and /or processes to newly established HRM System Catalyst 1.
      • Reviewing HR Processes in our Business Management System and give input to new ways/ new practices.
      • Maintaining and uploading relevant mandatory formal diplomas in Mintra Training Portal/Catalyst 1.
      • Investigate how competence is assured in operated assets, describe systematically and propose improvements as appropriate
      • QC annual leave in Simployer & Unit4.
      • Coordinating and communicating social activities during the summer for the summer interns.
      • Join project on developing a new P&C intranet information channel.

      Competence and certification required:

      • Excellent communication and social skills.
      • Fluent in oral English and excellent written English.
      • Knowledge of the Norwegian Labor Law.
      • Knowledge of MS 365/Sharepoint/Teams.

      CCS Project Engineer, Technical/Economic Assessments intern

      Scope of work:

      • Support to follow up on internal and external actions, updates on risk register and other cross functional project management activities.
      • CCS Project Services support for collation of monthly reporting, cost reporting etc., including assistance with streamlining reporting using Power BI
      • Technical case study of one or more specific topics
      • Provide support to the Trudvang commercial team in emitter and value chain screening including reporting and visualization of gathered data.
      • Case study of one or more specific topics.

      Competence and certification required:

      • Relevant experience.

      Reservoir Engineer / Greater Ekofisk Area Intern

      Scope of work:

      • Create an overview of the current GEA scope, and historical performance with respect to the infill campaigns on Ekofisk and Eldfisk.
        • Collect historical drilling costs and assign a P50 USD/100ft, + installation specific costs.
        • Run economic sensitivity on what volumes are required per installation with average well length/cost.

        Competence and certification required:

        • Knowledge of OFM/Avocet, Petrel, SQL databases, Excel, programming (especially VBA) preferable, but not required.

        Reservoir Engineer / Reservoir Data Management Intern

        Scope of work:

        • Enhance Subsurface’s Reservoir Data Management System (RDMS) with key data from selected assets and perform reservoir analysis to support decisions going forward. 
        • Implement reservoir and drainage pools classifications and assign wells assign wells to the appropriate drainage pools
        • Generate Top Reservoir Maps for those missing in current ArcGIS portfolio
        • Calculate STOIIP & GIIP and properties for drainage pools
        • Load historical RNB data, DG3 sanction profiles, and Acquisition cases
        • Use new data to analyze Ekofisk drainage pools in OFM and generate an regional analysis of Ekofisk South (Flank) performance 

        Competence and certification required:

        • Knowledge of OFM/Avocet, Petrel, SQL databases, Excel, programming (especially VBA) preferable, but not required.

        Reservoir Engineer Intern CCS

        Scope of work:

        • Contribute to the Trudvang carbon storage project by setting up and running a simulation study to investigate sensitivities to given parameters on plume behaviour.
        • Create a report describing the setup of the study and results.

        Competence and certification required:

        • Working knowledge in using simulation and post-processing tools, preferably Eclipse/IX under Petrel. Knowledge of Co2 modelling is an advantage but not a requirement.
